Kansas farmers planted 7.30 million acres of winter wheat for the

2022 crop year, unchanged from the previous year. Acres harvested totaled 6.60 million, down 6%. Total production for the 2022 crop year was 244.2 million bushels, down

33%. Yield per harvested acre was

37 bushels, down 15 bushels from

2021. Abandonment, at 9.6% of planted acres, was the highest since

2013.
